Our Projects

Together with the students and teachers at Ōtaua School and direct neighbours, we’re creating a native forest and wetland learning space. This hands-on project teaches tamariki about biodiversity and guardianship (kaitiakitanga) while improving the local environment.

Thanks to recent funding, we’re launching a large-scale fencing and planting initiative that spans several farms within the Awaroa-Karioitahi catchment. This project will help protect waterways, restore native habitat, and strengthen collaboration between landowners.

Predators like rats, stoats, ferrets, weasels, feral cats, hedgehogs and possums are a major threat to native birds and plants. Through our Hub Days, locals can access traps, learn best practices, and share results to help bring native wildlife back.

After hosting Wendy from Love Bittern, we’ve joined efforts to raise awareness about the endangered Matuku (Australasian Bittern) and the importance of healthy wetlands in our catchment.
